FinTRACA Holds 10th Meeting of the Compliance Coordination Committee

The Compliance Coordination Committee, chaired by the Director General of the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Center of Afghanistan (FinTRACA), held its tenth meeting on 17 September, 2024 at the office of the Supreme Council of Da Afghanistan Bank. The meeting was attended by the members of the Committee, including the Deputy Director General of the Banking Supervision and Financial Services Department, the Deputy Director General of Risk & Compliance Department of the Da Afghanistan Bank, the Executive Director General of Afghanistan Banking Association (ABA) and the Chief Compliance Officers of commercial banks.

In this meeting, Mr. Jamal Naser Raofy, Director General of (FinTRACA), welcomed the members of this committee, adding that the purpose of this meeting is to implement the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council (UNSCR), to establish joint efforts and improve mutual cooperation between (FinTRACA) and commercial banks, to update the members of the Compliance Coordination Committee on the latest developments in AML/CFT issues, Identifying technical problems and shortcomings in the reporting process of banks to FinTRACA and finding appropriate solutions to these problems; and Improving the effective implementation of the legal framework and the AML/CFT regime as a whole and better implementation of the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

The agenda of the meeting covered several key topics, including the effective implementation of AML/CFT laws and regulations, technical issues and shortcomings in banks' reporting process to FinTRACA, effective implementation of risk assessment in banks, and other relevant compliance issues.
